Title / Position
Rachel Cohen Blume was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She left Tuscaloosa to attend Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia for undergraduate school, and then continued her educational career attending Georgia State University for a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies/Philosophy. She then worked in the non-profit world at the Institute of Southern Jewish Life in Jackson, Mississippi before deciding to attend law school at the South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. After graduating with her juris doctorate in May of 2016, Rachel moved home to join the family practice. Her practice primarily focuses on trial and appeals of Divorce and Child Custody, Criminal Defense, Juvenile Court matters, and Probate/Estate matters. Rachel is a zealous advocate for her clients in and out of the courtroom and was presented with a Merit Award for Outstanding Representation and Performance in a Criminal Case by the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association in 2018. In that particular case, Rachel’s client was adamant that she was not guilty of the charges and was determined to take the case to trial. The jury came back with a not guilty verdict on all counts within 30 minutes. A substantial portion of Rachel’s practice consists of defending those accused of breaking the law. Rachel also has a unique understanding of the emotions and challenges her clients face when battling a divorce or custody fight. She ensures that her clients understand the whole picture, including emotional and financial consequences, not just the legal effects. Additionally, Rachel is a certified Guardian Ad Litem trained to specifically represent the best interest of a child or children. Rachel is always a passionate advocate for her clients whether they are charged with a crime as an adult or juvenile, or going through a divorce or custody case.
