Online Cross-Examination Workshop

NCDC ONLINE CROSS-EXAMINATION WORKSHOP

October 20- November 17, 2023

“This is such a wonderful program. I loved the instructors and problem sets. I’ve been a Public Defender for 7 years and I’ve never been able to really take advantage of training due to the fact that I was living on an island and couldn’t afford to travel for a week at a time to take training. This program really taught me a lot and pushed me to see where I can improve my skill set.”

PROGRAM DETAILS

For decades, NCDC has presented workshops that teach NCDC’s trial-tested cross-examination techniques.

In this online workshop, you will perform cross-examination exercises in breakout sessions coached by NCDC’s amazing faculty.

The NCDC Online Cross-Examination Workshop teaches the same skills as our legendary, in person cross-examination workshop. At your own pace, watch video presentations that teach NCDC’s cross-examination techniques. Perform cross-examination exercises in LIVE breakout sessions coached by NCDC’s amazing faculty with professional actors playing the roles of true-to-life witnesses.

There are no travel or hotel expenses and you have the opportunity to gain new skills and sharpen existing skills from the convenience of your office or home. Each participant is assigned to a breakout group according to experience. Breakout sessions are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at either 12pm or 3pm EST. Live demonstrations are held on Fridays at 3pm EST.

Workshop Content

Workshop topics include the three rules of cross-examination, witness control techniques, theory of the case, theory of the witness, chaptering strategies, headlining and transitions, impeachment, crossing incentivized witnesses, exposing biases and more.

Time Commitment

This is a 4-week online course with an expected time commitment of approximately 9-11 hours per week. Participants will study online lecture content asynchronously and then prepare to attend LIVE small group breakout sessions with NCDC faculty coaches on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (with professional actors in the roles of witnesses).  Demonstrations will take place at 3 PM on Fridays. During prep week, there will be five hours of online lectures to be reviewed at your convenience.  After prep week, the breakdown of the expected time commitment for this course is as follows:
