Kaushiki is the current Family Defense Practice Leader at Still She Rises, an indigent defense nonprofit dedicated to the representation of mothers in north Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prior to this role, she was the Criminal Defense Practice Leader where she built and led the development of the criminal defense practice. In her time in leadership, Kaushiki has ensured that attorneys, advocates, and investigators are consistently delivering clients creative, excellent, and client centered advocacy. Kaushiki has continued to take on cases representing clients accused of murder, child neglect, and other serious cases. Kaushiki has presented nationally for National Legal Aid Defender Association, National Association for Public Defense, and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She is also an alumnus of the National Criminal Defense College’s Trial Practice Institute. Prior to joining Still She Rises, Kaushiki was a public defender for the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender for six years where she primarily handled felony cases ranging from aggravated DUIs to complex mental capacity defense cases to First Degree Murder. Kaushiki is committed to the elevation of indigent defense nationwide. Kaushiki grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana, and obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Cincinnati and her Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin.
