Transform your trial advocacy in this intensive program hosted by the National Criminal Defense College. Designed for all public defenders, private criminal defense attorneys, and military attorneys, Master the Courtroom: Theory, Theme, Story, and Performance delivers hands-on training to elevate your courtroom presence and secure better outcomes for your clients.

  • The Core Defense: Theory is the engine that drives the persuasive locomotive  at trial.  In this program, you will master the art of finding and refining the correct theory of defense for every case.

  • Client-Centered Narrative: Deepen your client interviewing techniques to uncover the human story.

  • Compelling Examinations: Turn direct examinations into powerful, narrative-driven presentations.

Go beyond traditional legal training by working directly with creative masters through dynamic lectures, demonstrations, and small-group workshops:

Event Agenda

  • Thursday Afternoon: Kick off with participant registration, a comprehensive program introduction, and an evening mixer to network with fellow attendees and faculty.

  • Friday & Saturday: Full days of immersive training in Client Interviewing, Direct Examination, Opening Statements and Closing Arguments. Lunch is hosted at the law school.

  • Sunday: Conclude early in the afternoon. A convenient box lunch provided at the law school before departure.

  • Location & Venue: Hosted at The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University (ASU Law), located at 111 E Taylor St, Phoenix, AZ 85004. 

  • Accommodations: Discounted room blocks are available at the brand-new Denū Hotel & Spa in downtown Phoenix for only $199/nt including resort fees.

  • Tuition Cost: $1,300 (Includes daily lunch, and course case materials, which are distributed two weeks prior to the program start).

  • CLE: Continuing Legal Education credits can be applied for.
