Biography
I have been practicing criminal defense for 30 years. The majority of my practice is in federal court in both the Court of Appeals and District Court. The cases I handle range from federal death penalty prosecutions, alleged sexual assaults, appeals of serious criminal cases, complex fraud cases, and mental health cases. I am the past Chair of the Criminal Law Section of the State Bar of California and am presently an advisor to the Criminal Law Section (CLS) of the California Lawyers Association. The CLS supports California’s criminal lawyers by providing legal publications, in-person and remote (webinar) programming., and opportunities to connect with others in this area of practice. The CLS Executive Committee consists of defense attorneys, prosecutors, and judges. I am a Chapter Author of CEB’s criminal law “Bible”: California Criminal Law Procedure & Practice. I have won awards for my legal and non-legal writing.
